Frank & Kamenka villages workshop

Veteran researchers Doris Eckhardt Evans and Brent Mai are among the opening round of presenters at workshops scheduled as part of the International Convention of Germans from Russia this summer in Casper. Their hour-long session, entitled Kanton Frank and Northern Protestant Villages of Kanton Kamenka is set for 2:30 p.m., Thursday, July 31st.

The convention opens July 28th and runs through August 3rd. The Frank and Kamenka villages workshop will be in Ballroom A of the Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Casper, the convention headquarters.

Doris Eckhardt Evans of Almira, Washington is a native of Washington state and has been involved with genealogy and community history for many years. Doris has a degree in Education from Washington State. She was elected to the AHSGR Board in 1999 and served two consecutive terms, retiring in 2005. During its 2006 convention in Lincoln, AHSGR presented Doris with its Distinguished Service Award.

Brent Mai of Beaverton, Oregon is the University Librarian and Director of the Center for Volga German Studies at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. He is the author of numerous articles and books on the Volga Germans and has given many presentations on Volga-German research. He also serves as the Colony Research Coordinator for the colonies of Aehrenfeld and Kratzke for both AHSGR and GRHS.
